God is doing great things here at Chapel Hill!  We are seeing many people come to Christ and give their lives to him.  Those worshipping here are filling our worship center and praising God with passion.  Our children’s and youth ministries are exploding with young people.  Families are being strengthened and we are reaching out to our community like never before.  We are making a difference in our world because of the liberating love of Christ.

In the Bible, the Old Testament idea of jubilee was mostly about liberation and freedom for God’s people.  It was also a reminder of where their hope is found.  The Year of Jubilee for the Israelites was a proclamation of a coming Messiah who would give them freedom from spiritual bondage.  Jesus announced that purpose in Luke 4:14-21 when he announced in the synagogue in Nazareth that he was the promised Messiah and would set the captives free.  His ministry was about providing liberation from spiritual bondage.  What a joy it is to have a savior like that.

Many of you have received that liberation and freedom from spiritual bondage.  We now live for him every day.  We can rejoice and be glad for his goodness and his mercy!  I am regularly moved by how so many of you are living your lives in gratitude and love for all he has done for us.  We have been liberated for a purpose.

Now we find ourselves in a great situation.  Our church is growing and we are running out of room for all the people God is sending here.  We stand on the threshold of a future that will take us to heights of service like we have never seen.  But we cannot improve our facilities to support all that promise until we are liberated from the mortgage on our last building expansion.

Let’s all stand together at this crucial time in our history as we work to significantly reduce or eliminate our mortgage.  Doing so will position us to claim the future we can see ahead that God is leading us to accomplish.  Please read carefully through the rest of this information and determine how God wants you to help us reach our goal on May 18th—Jubilee!  It will be a great day for this church!

▪  Chapel Hill Christian Church is growing!  We are growing in the number of people who worship here and and in developing ministry to affect our community.

▪  The Elders at Chapel Hill have decided we must do something to significantly reduce or eliminate our mortgage on the most recent building addition.  Our growth is causing us to think about the next phase in facility development.  We can’t take that step with our current mortgage balance.

To respond to that situation we will focus on Sunday morning, May 18 as a special day of worship and celebration of what God has done for us.  We will receive a special offering that day to reduce our mortgage and position this church to respond to the need to expand and develop ministry.

▪  That will be our Jubilee, an Old Testament concept of liberation and freedom.  (Leviticus 25:8-10a)

You are encouraged to ask for God’s leading about how you can help.  The emphasis is on giving from assets, not income.  However, if giving from income is the best way for you, that is okay too.

▪  Be creative about how you will participate.  You could give:  stocks, bonds, securities, CD’s, real estate, rental property, vehicles, motorcycle, boat, bicycle, trailer, antiques, jewelry, savings, proceeds from a garage or attic sale, or other creative ways.  You could forego eating out for awhile, or postpone a vacation.  Or you could give from your income through the rest of the year.  There are hundreds of ways to participate in our Jubilee.

We will have an auction to help people liquidate items.  The date is uncertain at this printing, but will likely be in late April.

▪  Imagine a significantly increased worship area where 2,000 people are worshipping in two services.

▪  Picture additional classrooms that keep us building our children’s and student ministries.

▪  Visualize a full curriculum of adult classes meeting with no concerns for whether we have a classroom available, or whether it is a children’s classroom.

ABOVE ALL, PRAY FOR OUR YEAR OF JUBILEE!
