A JUBILEE VISION God is sending large numbers of people to become part of the ministry of Chapel Hill Christian Church. The reality is we are bursting at the seams as we try to take care of the needs of all the ministry being done here. Consider these realities: ▪ We are regularly over 850 people in worship and some Sundays we are pushing 1,000 who come to find God and worship him. Our worship services are beginning to be more full than is normally comfortable. ▪ There isn’t one available classroom during either worship service for classes for adults or children. Recently, we had two classes in the gym. Our expanding children’s and youth programs need more space right now. Adult classes are building momentum and there is no room for more. Rooms being used are often full to overflowing. ▪ Parking is becoming more difficult as more people attend worship and other activities. The Vision We want to respond to all that God is doing here in a way that keeps the momentum going. We must look toward expansion of facilities to accommodate all the developing ministry that is happening now. It is realistic to expect ministry to continue to develop, and we want it to continue to grow. Imagine a significantly increased worship area where 2,000 people are worshipping in two services. The next phase of developing our facilities is planned to allow that. Picture additional classrooms that let us keep building our children’s ministry so no child is turned away because there is no room. How important it is to teach children about God’s love for them. “Train up a child . . . (Proverbs 22:6) Our expanding and developing student ministry program is moving to a level that hasn’t been seen at Chapel Hill. Student worship services are building and small groups are growing. Space is becoming hard to find! Wouldn’t it be great to create more room for them? Adult classes are growing and expanding. What a joy it would be to have enough classrooms dedicated for adult learning so we can equip and unleash more and more people to reach into our community for Christ! We want to do all that and more, but our current mortgage is thwarting our ability to respond to what God is doing here. We must significantly reduce it or eliminate it before we can begin improving facilities to take care of our needs. On May 18th, our Year of Jubilee, we will receive a significant offering to make that happen. That day will be a great time of positioning for now and for the future. Then, sometime in a year or so, we can all work together in a capital campaign to take the next step with our facilities to support expanding ministry. As we stand on the threshold of our future, we see great things ahead. God has been good, now, we need to decide how we will respond to his goodness. |
